The Covid-19 pandemic that is currently happening has indeed had many impacts in the society, such as public health and socioeconomic. The pandemic has upended health systems all over the world and clinical pharmacy has not been spared from this disruption.
By the first of 2020 until 23th November 2021, more than four million Indonesian had received diagnosis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Although a substantial proportion of these infections remained asymptomatic, complications of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) had led to approximately 143.753 deaths in Indonesia. During past year, government has devoted to the development of vaccines to prevent Covid-19 and to reduce the morbidity and mortality among people who are infected. Developing of appropriate treatment is equally important to prevent the progression of Covid-19 infection and treat its complication.
In this issue, many research provoked that monoclonal antibodies (mAb) has potential agent to developed as Covid-19 therapy. The mAb serve as an antiviral agent to reduce the viral load in the nasopharynx. The effects of mAb and other drugs on viral load may prove to be an important criterion for the development of agents to treat early Covid-19. Such monoclonal antibodies may also be successful in preventing SARS-CoV-2 infection as an alternative to vaccination for people who cannot take a vaccine or need more immediate prophylaxis either before or after exposure.
In addition, during Covid-19 recovery, adjunctive therapies are frequently used in the prevention and/or treatment of COVID-19 or its complications. Some of these agents are being studied in clinical trials. Some clinicians advocate for the use of vitamin and mineral supplements to treat respiratory viral infections. Ongoing studies are evaluating the use of vitamin and mineral supplements for both the treatment and prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection
On the other hand, some countries, like a China and India use different traditional medicinal plants, which are vast reservoir of bioactive compounds with broad therapeutic and immunomodulatory properties to combat with Covid-19. Along with pharmacological properties and easily availability, safety paradigm of ethnomedicinal plants makes them highly preferable immediate remedy to enhance immunity and compete with Covid-19. Use of traditional Indian spices has been also realized as effective and safer strategy in order to boost immunity and deal with highly terrible current Covid-19 situation. Hence, there is need
